“HeartSaver Basic Adult & Infant CPR/AED” is another American Heart Association (AHA) training program, but it focuses specifically on providing CPR and AED training for laypersons or individuals who are not healthcare professionals. This program is often suitable for those who may need CPR and AED skills for their workplace, community, or personal knowledge.

Here’s an overview of what you might expect in a HeartSaver Basic Adult & Infant CPR/AED course:

  1. CPR for Adults and Infants: The course covers CPR techniques for both adults and infants. This includes chest compressions and rescue breaths.

  2. AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Training: Participants learn how to use an AED, a device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat.

  3. Choking Relief: The course typically includes instructions on how to respond to a choking victim, both for adults and infants.

  4. Skills Practice: Participants have the opportunity to practice these skills on manikins to gain hands-on experience and confidence.

  5. Written Test: Some courses may include a written test to assess participants’ understanding of the material.

  6. Certification: Successful completion of the course results in a certification card that is usually valid for two years. Recertification is typically required to stay current on the latest techniques and guidelines.
